For this project, I used Gemini Notebook to create a podcast and two YouTube Shorts about celiac disease. I chose celiac disease because I have it myself, and it has become a huge part of my everyday life. I wanted to use this project as an opportunity to spread awareness about the disease and show that it can affect the entire body, rather than just causing a stomachache.
Overall, I found Gemini Notebook really intuitive and fun to experiment with. I was surprised by how easily I could turn information into a podcast and short videos. The biggest challenges I ran into were actually getting the content from Gemini Notebook onto my website. I initially created everything using the app on my iPad and could not figure out how to download the podcast or videos. Eventually, I realized that downloading files directly to your device is not available through the mobile app. Once I opened Gemini Notebook on my computer, I was able to download everything.
I ran into another issue when I tried to add the podcast to my website because the site would not accept the MP3 file. Instead, I uploaded the podcast to Google Drive and embedded the share link into my site. For the Shorts, I uploaded them to YouTube and embedded the videos directly into the website.
This project showed me that creating AI-generated content can be surprisingly simple, but sharing and integrating that content across different platforms can take some problem solving. It also gave me a chance to use AI to communicate about a topic that is personally important to me in a format that is more engaging and accessible than written information alone. I can definitely see myself using Gemini Notebook again in the future, especially for creating educational content. Being able to turn information into podcasts and short videos could be really useful for instructional design, science communication, and as a great study tool. I think this is something I will continue experimenting with throughout the MIST program and beyond.
