I found this assignment fun, and it helped me become more comfortable building surveys in Google Forms. I chose typing speed because I recently started an office job that requires typing faster than 40 words per minute. Collecting responses gave me a chance to connect the assignment to something relevant to my everyday work.
One thing I learned was how much question design affects the usefulness of the results. My device question used a checkbox matrix without enough restrictions, so participants could, and did, select multiple options. This made their responses unclear, and I could not use that information in my final analysis. This taught me that I need to think through every possible way someone might answer a question and how those responses could affect my analysis.
The chart showed typing speeds ranging from 24 to 70 WPM, with four of six participants exceeding 40 WPM. There was no consistent pattern between age and typing speed. In instructional design, surveys and charts could help me understand learners’ needs and identify areas where additional practice or support would be useful.
Typing speeds ranged from 24 to 70 WPM. The fastest participant was age 40, and four of the six participants exceeded 40 WPM. The results do not show a consistent increase or decrease in typing speed with age.
I chose typing speed because I recently started an office job that requires typing faster than 40 words per minute. This made me interested in how typing speed varies with age, regular computer use at work, and the device used for the test.
I used ChatGPT to improve the clarity and flow of my survey questions and reflection and to create a chart from my collected responses. I reviewed and revised the AI-assisted content and take responsibility for the final submission.
